Perfect Whiskey Punch

We served this drink at the Camp 77 party in July of 2012. The recipe is one we found at servedraw.com, but a little further investigation found that it was actually taken from Paul Abercrombie’s book Organic, Shaken and Stirred. Purportedly hailing from the early eighteen hundreds, this is definitely an authentic punch of the old-world variety. A category of libation we at the Enthusiast are quite fond of. Here is the recipe, which can be made to order or, more commonly, in large batches:

Perfect Whiskey Punch

2 pt. rye whiskey
1 pt. dry vermouth
1/2 pt. sweet vermouth
1/2 pt. pineapple syrup (classic simple syrup infused overnight in the fridge with chunks of fresh pineapple)
2 dashes orange bitters
Oranges slices
Pineapple chunks (from the simple syrup infusion)
